  • Kathrein in the top field in the Fuchsbriefe benchmark test
  • Aim of the test: to outperform benchmark consisting of 4 ETFs over a period of five years
Vienna, April 27, 2021. Kathrein Privatbank takes an excellent seventh place in the Performance Project IV of FUCHS|RICHTER PRÜFINSTANZ. The objective of the test was to beat a benchmark portfolio of four ETFs over a period of five years. The aim was also to achieve an annual payout and keep volatility within limits. The basis for the Kathrein test portfolio was the house opinion, which is reflected in the Mandatum funds depending on the stock weighting and is also implemented in the Kathrein asset management according to the customer's risk specifications. Kathrein Privatbank's actively managed Mandatum 25 fund (with an average equity weighting of 25%) clearly outperformed the benchmark. Overall, only 13 out of 73 providers from the entire German-speaking region managed to do so. "We are proud that we were able to prove our competencies and expertise over several years and made it into the top field in an independent, international performance comparison," said Wilhelm Celeda, CEO of Kathrein Privatbank.

Active Management outperforms

73 banks and asset managers from the entire German-speaking region were called upon to manage assets of 3 million EUR over five years. A total of EUR 150,000 was to be paid out at the end of the term. Providers who could not guarantee nominal capital preservation after five years had to accept point deductions. There were also point deductions if a loss of 15% from the last peak was exceeded. The bar to beat - a portfolio of index funds consisting of four ETFs (two equity ETFs and two bond ETFs). The idea - a private individual who does not want to go to a traditional asset manager puts together a portfolio of index funds. As readily tradable, low-cost options, index funds (ETFs) cover a broad market. "The Fuchs Performance Project is always an excellent opportunity to underline the quality of our work at Kathrein Privatbank. I am particularly pleased that the added value of our active Kathrein portfolio management has been confirmed by an independent quality control," said Stefan Neubauer, Member of the Board of Kathrein Privatbank.
